Mr. Harold D. “Buddy” Sharpe, age 87, of Lyons, died Thursday, April 8, 2021, in Meadows Health in Vidalia after a sudden illness. He was a native of Toombs County, growing up in Blue Ridge Community, and has lived in Lyons since 1958. He started his career with Henry L. Trotman, which was later acquired by Everett Dykes Grassing Company, and retired after forty-nine years as superintendent. In 1994, he was the recipient of the Quality Construction Award from the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was a longtime farmer. He was a member and served as a deacon of the Vidalia Primitive Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren A. Sharpe and Leona Lewis Sharpe; a son-in-law, Kurt Jacobs; and several siblings. Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Carol Sharpe of Lyons; four children, Melony Sharpe Jacobs of Vidalia, Dwayne Sharpe and wife Judy of Lyons, Randy Sharpe and wife Kim of Louisville, and Tara Sharpe Odom and husband Bill of Soperton; a former daughter-in-law, Phyllis Mimbs Sharpe of Lyons; six grandchildren, Miranda Sharpe Kight and husband Buddy of Lyons, Ashley Jacobs Payne and husband Rusty of Vidalia, Tonya Sharpe Braddy and husband Chris of Tarrytown, Taylor Thompson of Vidalia, Dawson Sharpe of Louisville, and Trace Thompson of Vidalia; six great-grandchildren, Haylie Kight, Hayden Kight, Shay Kight, Chesney Burch, Rush Payne, and Remi Grace Braddy; two sisters, Faye Collins of Orlando, Florida, and Louise Blair of Vidalia; two brothers, James Elbeth Sharpe of Soperton, and Howell Sharpe and wife Kathy of Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was Sunday, April 11, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Elder Mike Gray and Elder Bill Durrence officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Park City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dawson Sharpe, Trace Thompson, Hayden Kight, Rush Payne, Davy Vaughn, Steve Burton and Tony Burton.
