Mr. Marcus Brazell

Mr. Marcus Jerald “Jerry” Brazell, 76, of Vidalia, died on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at Appling Health Care System in Baxley after a lengthy illness. Mr. Brazell was a resident of Vidalia for the past 40 years and was a former longtime resident of Reidsville. He served in the U.S. Army, followed by a career as a correctional officer with the State Prison System, eventually becoming a counselor and serving as deputy warden for a short period of time. He retired as a probation officer. He was preceded in death by his parents, M.F. and Euretta Blocker Brazell, and 1 infant daughter, Margaret Leigh Brazell.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Kim Mc-Coy Brazell of Vidalia; 5 children, Lisa Brazell of Lyons, Connie Brazell of Orlando, FL, Mark Brazell of Collins, Teresa Jones of Vidalia, and Nikki Goodwin and husband, Billy of Vidalia; 1 brother, Wayne Brazell of Arizona; 1 sister, Janice Phillips of Reidsville; grandchildren, Kristin Barwick, Eric King, Tyler, Landon and Trent Lindsay, Ryan, Michael, Jamie and Kayla Brazell and MacKenzie and Kameron McNure; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Jace; stepchildren, Krystal Jones of Eastman and Lindsey Wyatt of Wrightsville; stepgrandchildren, Wyatt and MacKenzie Jones, Gabe Wyatt, Ashlynn Goodwin, Kayla Dowdy and Christopher Garza; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

A graveside funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., in Reidsville City Cemetery, with Rev. Wayne Merritt officiating.
