Mr. Rosser “Rod” Elkins, Jr., died on Monday, August 19, 2020, following a brief illness.

Mr. Elkins spent his formative years in Riviera Beach, FL, and his summers at the Rackley family farm in Uvalda. Following his graduation from Florida Presbyterian College, he joined the Peace Corps, serving 2 years in India. He was an oboist and played in the Boca Pops and Palm Beach Symphony for many years. He moved to his mother’s family homestead in Uvalda and sang with the Vidalia Community Chorus and other musical venues. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosser and Melba Racklye and 1 sister, Anna Melba Elkins Rubian.

Survivors include 1 brother and sister-in-law, James Samuel ( Jim) and Debby Waddington Elkins; and nephews and niece, Michael Dillon, Isaiah Price, Robby Elkins, Kyle Elkins, and Nichole Elkins.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
