CONTEXT

A compilation of quotations on a variety of issues by national, state and regional writers, well-known personalities, just plain everyday people and from various publications collected by the editors of THE ADVANCE.

Quotes for our Times:

“People who have time on their hands will inevitably waste the time of people who have work to do.”

Thomas Sowell

Dr. Sean M. Brooks, author of six books, including Violence Among Students and School Staff, Purposeful Deception, and most recently, Discourses on Education: A simple lesson in home learning.

Instead these students have been learning in the first week about how to manage their emotions, draw monsters, click on programs and tell people what they like and what they did during the summer. While some may find this level on introductory instruction normal, I assure you there are better and more mature options.

There are certainly schools and districts that have raised the bar of instruction, even during the first week. However, within this major school district in Central Ohio, I assure you, the first week of online home learning has shown that the bar is set very low, and clicking on Common Core computer programs is neither teaching nor learning. While in many states the school year is still young; focus, direction and rigor can start anytime and they should start immediately.

Jack Hellner, journalist for American Thinker:

As Biden falls in the polls, the media's lies get bigger.

The more desperate the media becomes to elect the corrupt, incompetent Joe Biden, the bigger and more numerous the lies.

We have been treated to Democrat campaign workers, posing as journalists, and other Democrats throwing crap against the wall for five years to elect one corrupt Democrat after another. No matter how obvious the lies become the more they repeat them.

The greatest threat to peace, freedom, democracy and prosperity throughout the world and in the U.S. is when the media intentionally lies to the public in order to elect power hungry corrupt politicians who cater to dictators if it fits the agenda, which it almost always does.

The choice is easy. Vote against who most of the media campaigns for. They will lie reflexively to mislead the public because power for leftists is all that matters.

Ben Shapiro, political commentator: Why won't Biden condemn Antifa or BLM violence?

'Biden simply cannot condemn Antifa or BLM by name, because to do so would be to recognize two simple truths: first, that Trump isn't the chief source of violence in American cities; second, that in spite of his 'return to normalcy' message, Biden's 'systemic racism' narrative provides the ideological groundwork for those who seek to tear down the system. Democrats have spent months denying the violence, calling Trump a fascist for offering federal help and decrying the American system. The fruits are on full display for everyone to see. And so, Biden must bluff, and the media must cover for him.

Perhaps Biden will get away with it. Americans should hope he doesn't.
