Supt. Roy Lee Williams

Superintendent Roy Lee Williams of Vidalia died on August 7, 2020, in California.

Supt. Williams was a native of Toombs County. He was elected as a County Commissioner in 1987 and retired in 2014. In 2001, he was appointed as District Superintendent of J.P. Ward District in the Historic First Jurisdiction of Southern Georgia. He was appointed pastor of Mosleytown Church of God in Christ in Tarrytown and Live Oak Church of God in Christ in Lyons. Survivors include his wife, First Lady Elect Rose Sandra Williams; 3 sisters, Thelma Collier, Virginia (James) McClendon, and Deloris Williams; 4 brothers, Earnest Williams, Luther Ray Williams, Frank Williams, and Willie Williams; 3 sons, Rodney (Charlene) Williams, Reginald (Sharon) Williams, and Robert (Tyanda) Williams; 2 daughters, Tangela (Darrell) Jasper-Rainey and Alicia (James) Taylor; and 4 adopted children, Minister Mark and Dolly Durden and Bishop Bernard and Pastor Valentina Hill.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., in East Park Cemetery in Vidalia.
