VRD Swims At State Meet

The Vidalia Recreation Department Swim Team had a great showing at the GRPA B State Swim Meet in Moutrie on July 11 and 12. Fourteen swimmers competed in the meet with numerous swimmers making it to the finals and bringing home awards.

In the 6-8 age division, Presley Goss finished 5th in the 100 yard individual medley with a time of 2:35.93 and 6th in the 25 yard breaststroke with a time of 28.56. James Ray finished 6th in the 25 yard breaststroke with a time of 29.59.

In the 9-10 age division, Mason Zorn placed 2nd in the 50 yard free with a time of 34.39, 2nd in the 25 yard freestyle with a time of 14.82, and 3rd in the 25 yard backstroke with a time of 19.56. Isabella Morgan finished 6th in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 36.11 and 5th in the 25 yard backstroke with a time of 20.15. Jacob Tomlin finished 7th in the 25 yard breaststroke with a time of 23.97.

The 10 & Under Mixed Relay Team of Presley Goss, Isabella Morgan, Sam Parker, and Jacob Tomin placed 3rd in the 100 yard medley relay with a time of 1:38.02 and 3rd in the 100 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:21.19.

In the 11-12 age division, Virginia Meredith placed a very close 2nd in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:09.42, 7th in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 31.60, and 6th in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 40.10. Aubree Zorn placed 4th in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:09.85, 6th in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 31.26, and 6th in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 36.57. Easton Moore placed 4th in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:09.69, 7th in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 39.35, and 8th in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 40.61.

The 12 & under mixed relay team of Virginia Meredith, Easton Moore, Aubree Zorn, and Mason Zorn earned 4th place in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:39.44 as well as 3rd place in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:11.89.

In the 13-14 age division, Jackson Tomlin placed 4th in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:03.38, 7th in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 28.67, and 4th in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 35.74.

In the 15-18 age division, Miranda Morgan placed 8th in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 47.55. Autumn Moore finished 3rd in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 26.91, 3rd in the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 34.49, and 3rd in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 32.23.

The team was led this year by coaches Conley Brown, Kensley Davis, Autumn Moore, and Anthony Underwood.

Mason Zorn took 2nd place in the 50-yard freestyle, 2nd in the 25-yard freestyle, and 3rd in the 25-yard backstroke.
