Wheeler 12U Girls Are State Runner-up

The Wheeler County 12U Girls softball team traveled to Alma to take part in the GRPA State Tournament, and they came away as State Runner-up. They battled against eight other teams in the tournament.

Wheeler vs. Morgan Co.

Wheeler had a bye in the first round and took on Morgan County in the second round of the tournament. Wheeler rolled to an easy run rule win, 20-1, to advance to the next round.

Wheeler vs. Bacon Co.

Up next was Bacon County in the next round of the winners' bracket. This game was a battle to the end as Bacon pulled out a 3-2 win over Wheeler. That sent Wheeler down into the losers' bracket.

Wheeler vs. Lanier Co.

Wheeler had to battle back through the losers' bracket for a shot at a rematch against Bacon County. They first took on Lanier County in the losers' bracket.

Wheeler did just enough as they came out on top, 4-2, to keep their tournament alive.

Wheeler vs. Tallapoosa

In a pitching dual, Wheeler pulled out the win over Tallapoosa in the next round. Wheeler scored the only run of the game to win the game, 1-0.

Wheeler vs. Appling Co.

Up next was Appling County in the semifinals of the losers' bracket, with the winner heading to the Championship. This was another close game with Wheeler finding a way to take the win.

Wheeler picked up a 5-4 victory over Appling to move into the Championship against Bacon County.

Wheeler vs. Bacon Co.

Championship In the Championship Game, Bacon County was just too much for Wheeler. Wheeler struggled to get the big hits when they needed them as they fell to Bacon, 6-0.

But Wheeler had a good tournament run as they fought their way through the losers' bracket for a shot at the State Title.
