Bulldogs Soccer Sweeps Bacon Co.
It was a dominant showing on the pitch for Toombs County on Monday of last week, as both the girls' and boys' soccer teams secured resounding 10-0 mercy-rule victories over the visiting Bacon County Red Raiders. From the opening whistles, the Bulldogs controlled the tempo and never let the Red Raiders find their footing.
Girls vs. Bacon Co.
In the girls' matchup, Toombs pulled away early, dismantling the Bacon County defense in the first half to take a commanding 6-0 lead into the break. The Lady Bulldogs kept the pressure on in the second half, adding four more goals to finalize the 10-0 shutout.
Kanijah Toby spearheaded the offensive clinic with four goals on the day. Emerson Powell followed closely with three goals of her own, while Mishi Smith found the back of the net twice. Aubrey Gay and Emma Wright rounded out the impressive scoring effort, each contributing a goal to the comprehensive team win.
Boys vs. Bacon Co.
The boys' contest followed an identical script, proving to be just as much of a mismatch. The Bulldogs matched the girls' pace, netting six goals in the first half and keeping Bacon County entirely out of the striking zone. They cruised through the second half with four additional goals to seal their own 10-0 mercy-rule victory.
Osvaldo Tinoco and Jayko Gonzalez carried the heavy offensive load, each recording three goals to lead the way. Erick Nahuaca, Daniel Santoyo, and Krystian Florez kept the pressure dispersed, each adding a goal to cap off the rout.
Following Monday's sweep, the Lady Bulldogs stand at 7-5 overall and 2-2 in region play, while the boys improve to 7-4 on the season with a 2-1 region mark. Both squads hosted local rival Vidalia on Tuesday of this week in matchups that concluded after presstime. The Bulldogs will look to keep their momentum rolling as they return to action on Thursday, hosting the Swainsboro Tigers at 5:00 p.m.
