4 Wins For The Vikings


It was a busy and successful week for the Treutlen County High School Vikings baseball team, who managed to pick up four wins in a four-day stretch. The team showed off their depth and determination, keeping their region record perfect with a mix of steady hitting and reliable pitching. vs. Montgomery Co.
The week started on the road Tuesday against Montgomery County, where the Vikings put together a solid 7-1 victory. Gavin Bailey gave Treutlen an early lead with an RBI in the top of the first inning.
Montgomery County tied it up in the bottom half, but Treutlen responded in the second. Peyton Miller and Acie Dickens hit RBI doubles to make it a 4-1 game. The Vikings kept the momentum going from there, adding a run in the fourth and two more in the sixth to close it out. vs. Baldwin On Wednesday, the team traveled to Baldwin and came away with a dominant 14-0 win. no-hitter. The offense backed him up early, as Caden Parrish and DJ Steptoe brought in runs in the second inning for a 2-0 lead. Bailey added another RBI in the third.
The Vikings then opened the game up in the fifth inning. They scored five runs on hits by Ikner, Parrish, Steptoe, and Michael Boone to make it 8-0. A big six-run sixth inning, highlighted by Bailey's two-run double, a sacrifice fly from Jeddson Wilkes, and three runs scored on a Baldwin error, put the game entirely out of reach. vs. Jenkins Co.
Back at home on Thursday, Treutlen handled Jenkins County with a 13-0 run-rule victory in four innings. Acie Dickens got things started with an RBI single in the second.
The lineup really clicked in the third inning, bringing 10 runs across the plate. That explosive frame included a big three-RBI hit by Jack Walker. They added two final runs in the fourth to secure the win. vs. Montgomery Co.
The week wrapped up on Friday with a tense rematch at home against Montgomery County. In a quiet game for both offenses, the Vikings found a way to pull out a hardfought 1-0 win.
Bailey and Walker teamed up for a stellar shutout on the mound. Bailey struck out nine batters, and Walker came in to strike out three more to close the game.
The only run of the night came in the bottom of the sixth inning. Juddson Wilkes delivered a crucial RBI single, which proved to be all Treutlen needed to finish the week undefeated.
The four wins bumped the Vikings' overall record to 15-4, and they now sit at 7-0 in region play. The team faced Wheeler County on Monday and Telfair County on Tuesday, both after presstime. They will be back on their home field this Friday to host Telfair County at 5:30 p.m.
