Vidalia 10U Boys Win State Title

The Vidalia Recreation Department 10U boys basketball team ended a nearly three-decade drought this past week, clinching the GRPA State Championship for the first time since 1998. The young Vidalia squad completed a perfect 7-0 postseason run, capped off by a string of dominant performances in Carrollton that left no doubt who the top team in Georgia was this year.
Vidalia took care of business early in the District tournament, starting with a 64-7 win over Effingham. They followed that up by beating Burke County 58-20 and McDuffie 42-20 to win the District Championship and to punch their ticket to the State Tournament in Carrollton.
Once they got to State, the momentum didn't slow down. Vidalia opened with a 48-25 win against Stephens County and then shut down Jones County 33-9. In the semifinals, they put up 68 points against Camden County to earn their spot in the finals with a 68-28 win.
In the State Championship Game against Carrollton, the VRD boys took care of business, winning the game 4926.
Finishing the postseason undefeated, the Vidalia 10U boys outscored their opponents by a total of 227 points across seven games. It was a great performance for a group that brought a state trophy back to Vidalia after a 28year wait.
