RTCA March On to GIAA Final 4

Both the Robert Toombs Christian Academy boys and girls basketball teams are heading to the Final 4 after commanding victories in the Elite 8 of the GIAA State Basketball Playoffs. Following a well-deserved first-round bye, both squads proved they were primed for postseason action last week.

Girls vs. Thomas Jefferson

The Lady Crusaders made quick work of the Thomas Jefferson Academy Lady Jaguars in their second-round matchup. They dominated the court on both sides of the ball to secure a decisive 68-34 victory and stamp their ticket to the next round.

Boys vs. Oak Mountain

On the boys' side, RTCA faced off against a tough Oak Mountain Academy Warriors squad. The Crusaders established a 19-14 lead by the end of the first period and extended their advantage to 38-31 heading into the locker room at halftime.

RTCA maintained their momentum to hold a 57-44 lead at the end of the third quarter before closing out the game with a comfortable 72-57 win. Drew Edwards paced the offensive effort with a stellar 26-point performance, while Anthony Cook provided crucial support by adding 17 points.

The Championship chase continues this Wednesday as both teams travel to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College for the Final 4. The Lady Crusaders will tip off against the Citizens Christian Academy Lady Patriots at 3:00 p.m. The boys will take the court against the First Preparatory Christian Academy Highlanders at 7:30 p.m.
