Crusaders Battle for Title at Region Tournament

The Robert Toombs Christian Academy Crusaders and Lady Crusaders basketball teams traveled to Brewton-Parker Christian University last week to compete in the Region Tournament. Both squads fought their way to the championship games after securing victories in the semifinals on Thursday, but ultimately fell short in the finals on Friday evening.
Girls vs. CCA
The Lady Crusaders opened the tournament on Thursday with a thrilling victory over the Citizens Christian Academy Lady Patriots. In a true nail-biter, RTCA edged out CCA by a single point to take the win, 48-47. This time, RTCA flipped the script in a game that came down to the final moments, securing their spot in the title matchup.
Boys vs. CCA
The RTCA boys also punched their ticket to the finals with a solid performance against Citizens Christian Academy on Thursday. The Crusaders came out of the gate strong, jumping out to a 12-6 lead in the first period. They maintained their composure to hold a 22-17 advantage at halftime. In the third continued from page
quarter, RTCA extended the gap to 37-28 before pulling away decisively in the fourth to seal a 49-36 victory. Drew Edwards was the offensive spark for the Crusaders, leading the way with a game-high 24 points.
Girls vs. Memorial Region Championship On Friday, the Lady Crusaders faced Memorial Day in the Region Championship. It was another tightly contested battle for RTCA, but the Lady Matadors managed to pull ahead in the end. Despite a hardfought effort, the Lady Crusaders lost 53-48, finishing the tournament as the Region Runners-up.
Boys vs. FPCA Region Championship In the Region Championship on Friday, the boys squared off against a talented First Preparatory Christian Academy team. The Highlanders proved to be a difficult challenge, and despite the Crusaders’ best efforts, FPCA controlled the pace to claim the title. The Crusaders fell 68-52 to finish the tournament.
