Bulldogs Sweep Final Week of Regular Season The Wheeler County High School basketball teams capped off their regular season in dominant fashion, with both the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs securing three victories in a busy final week. The teams faced a grueling schedule that included a Tuesday matchup against the Hawkinsville Red Devils, a Friday home game hosting the Montgomery County Eagles, and a road trip to close the week against the Dooly County Bobcats. Both squads rose to the challenge, finishing the week with perfect 3-0 records.
Girls vs. Hawkinsville
The week began on Tuesday against the Hawkinsville Red Devils, where the Lady Bulldogs set the tone with a stifling defensive performance. Wheeler rolled to an easy victory, establishing a 19-4 lead by the end of the first period and extending it to 33-7 at halftime. The defense was impenetrable in the second half, holding the Lady Devils scoreless for the remainder of the game. Wheeler led 48-7 after the third quarter and cruised to a 52-7 final. Nikita James powered the offense with a game-high 26 points, while Justise Dubose chipped in with 9 points.
Boys vs. Hawkinsville
The boys' game against Hawkinsville was a tighter contest early on, but the Bulldogs eventually pulled away for a convincing win. Wheeler held a 17-11 lead after the first quarter, but Hawkinsville fought back to narrow the gap to a single point at halftime, trailing just 32-31. The third quarter proved decisive as Wheeler exploded offensively, stretching their lead to 57-36. They maintained that momentum to close out the game with a 71-49 victory.
Girls vs. MCHS
On Friday, Wheeler County hosted the Montgomery County Eagles. The Lady Bulldogs continued their offensive rhythm, rolling to a 63-31 win. The victory was a balanced team effort featuring three players in double figures. Nikita James once again led continued from page

Boys vs. MCHS
In the boys' matchup against Montgomery, Wheeler controlled the game from the opening tip. They jumped out to a 19-8 lead in the first quarter and widened the gap to 35-17 by halftime. The Bulldogs put the game out of reach in the third period, pushing the score to 60-30 before finalizing a 73-47 win. vs. Dooly Co.
The teams wrapped up their regular season schedule on the road against the Dooly County Bobcats. In a defensive battle, the Lady Bulldogs managed to secure a 37-28 victory despite the low-scoring nature of the contest. Nikita James led the way with 15 points, and Justise Dubose added 10 points to ensure the win. The Wheeler boys completed the weekly sweep with a solid performance of their own, defeating Dooly County 70-44.
The Lady Bulldogs finished the season with a record of 10-11 and they were 8-4 in the Region and sit in third place. The boys are 17-4 on the year and are 11-1 in the Region and in first place. They will kick off the postseason next week.
