The Vidalia High School basketball teams swept the Appling County Pirates last week in a pair of nonconference contests. The Lady Indians rallied in the second half to secure a 50-40 victory, while the Indians dominated from tip-off to final buzzer in an 80-52 win.

In the opener, the Lady Indians overcame a halftime deficit to pull away for a double- digit win.

Vidalia opened defensively, holding the Pirates to just five points in the first quarter. Ze Rollins and Mischa Wardlaw sparked the offense early, helping Vidalia to a 9-5 lead. However, Appling County found its rhythm in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Indians 18-12 to take a narrow 23-21 advantage into the break.

The third quarter proved decisive. Vidalia emerged from the locker room with renewed aggression, outscoring the Pirates 18-9 to reclaim the lead at 39-32. Wardlaw connected from deep, while Rollins attacked the paint to shift the momentum.

Vidalia maintained control in the fourth. Although Appling County cut the gap to four points midway through the period, the Lady Indians executed down the stretch. Takaiyah Bacon and Jordyn Goings hit critical free throws, and the defense clamped down to seal the 5040 victory.

points in the frame to take a commanding 40-22 lead into halftime.

The Indians didn't let up in the third quarter. Boles, Brown, and Eion Ryals continued to find scoring opportunities, extending the margin to 5636 heading into the final period.

Vidalia closed the game strong, adding 24 points in the fourth quarter. The bench got involved late, with Dj Wallace, Kashun Coney, and Brycen Burns contributing buckets, and Jabari Patterson adding a three-pointer to cap the scoring. The Indians' defense held firm throughout, limiting Appling County's runs and securing the 80-52 win.

This week the Lady Indians hosted St. Vincent's on Tuesday after presstime. Both the girls and boys will be back in action on Saturday at the Tigers of Claxton with the first game starting at 6:00 p.m.
