Busy Week For Vidalia Indians


The Vidalia High School basketball teams faced a busy schedule last week with three games against region and nonregion opponents. The Indians and Lady Indians faced the Raiders of Savannah Christian on Tuesday, the Tigers of Claxton on Friday, and the Warriors of Tattnall County on Saturday. Both Vidalia squads finished the week with a 2-1 record.
Girls vs. Savannah
The Lady Indians opened the week with a victory over Savannah Christian. Vidalia held a narrow 6-5 lead after the first quarter but increased that margin to 20-7 by the end of the first half. The Lady Indians extended the lead to 35-16 in the third quarter and went on to win the game 46-31.
Boys vs. Savannah
The boys dropped their Tuesday contest to the Raiders. Savannah led 10-6 after the first quarter, but VHS closed the gap to 24-23 by halftime. Savannah Christian pushed ahead 4033 after the third quarter and maintained the lead to win the game 51-43.
Girls vs. Claxton
On Friday, the Lady Indians dominated the Lady Tigers of Claxton. Vidalia led 21-6 at the end of the first quarter and was on top 27-10 at halftime. They pushed the lead to 45-14 by the end of the third and went on to win the game 52-17.
Boys vs. Claxton
In the boys game against Claxton, Vidalia also rolled to a substantial win. VHS jumped out to a 26-2 lead in the first quarter and was up 44-12 by halftime. The Indians pushed the lead to 65-24 at the end of the third and took the win, 81-34. continued from page
Girls vs. Tattnall
The week concluded on Saturday against Tattnall County. The Lady Indians found themselves trailing 10-2 at the end of the first quarter but closed the lead to 1613 by halftime. VHS kept it close, trailing 30-25 at the end of the third, but Tattnall took the win, 3930.
Boys vs. Tattnall In the final boys contest of the week, Vidalia was in front 16-8 after the first quarter and led 2815 at halftime. VHS was up 48-26 after the third quarter and went on to win, 61-30.
Vidalia will not be taking much time off for Christmas as they faced the Pirates of Appling County on Monday of this week after presstime. They will be back in action on Friday and Saturday as they host the Paul Thigpen Christmas Tournament. They will play Friday against Coffee County at 6:30 p.m., and then on Saturday they will play Telfair County at 6:30 p.m.
