The Vidalia High School wrestling program hosted 17 teams over 2 days of hard-nosed competition at the Onion City Invitational, sponsored by Sweet Onion Roofing, and the Indians rose to the challenge despite battling injuries and an incomplete lineup. Short-handed and with several wrestlers still working to reach their weight classes, Vidalia fought through a deep field to finish 7th overall.

The Indians put 3 wrestlers on the podium, each delivering standout performances. TJ Scott powered his way to a 2nd-place finish at 120 pounds, while Dylan Kicklighter followed with a runner-up finish at 144 pounds. At 165 pounds, Alexander Muzafarov capped the weekend with a strong 2ndplace showing, giving Vidalia 3 finalists in a tough tournament bracket.

Beyond the medals, the Invitational served as a proving ground for Vidalia’s younger wrestlers, who gained valuable mat time against quality opponents. That experience, paired with the team’s grit and effort, sets a strong foundation as the season moves forward.

Vidalia High School extends its appreciation to Sweet Onion Roofing for sponsoring the event, as well as to all 17 teams that competed and helped make the Onion City Invitational a success. The Indians will continue to build, battle, and grow as the season progresses.
