Indians Over Providence Christian

The Vidalia High School boys basketball team kept their unblemished record intact on Wednesday night, relying on suffocating defense and balanced scoring to defeat the Providence Christian Academy Storm, 60–46. The victory pushes the Indians to a strong 3–0 start to the season.
After Providence Christian won the tip, the teams traded baskets early before Vidalia began to find its rhythm. A Brycen Burns 3-pointer sparked the offense, helping the Indians build a 14–8 lead by the end of the first quarter. The defensive intensity ramped up in the second period, where Vidalia held the Storm to just three points. A late 3-pointer by Burns extended the advantage, and despite a buzzer-beating three from PCA’s Jude Chadwick, the Indians carried a commanding 22–11 lead into halftime.
The pace quickened in the third quarter as Rashad Brown came alive, burying a 3-pointer and scoring inside to push the lead to 35–20. However, the Storm refused to go quietly, heating up from behind the arc behind Caleb Paige and AJ Cantrell to trim the deficit to 37–30 heading into the final frame.
Vidalia responded to the pressure in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Jerry Roundtree was pivotal down the stretch, sinking crucial free throws and draining a big 3-pointer with three minutes remaining to push the lead back to double digits at 51– 38. DJ Wallace added key buckets late to seal the win.
Offensive balance was the story of the night for Vidalia. Rashad Brown paced the offense with a team-high 16 continued from page
points, while Jerry Roundtree added 12. Brycen Burns and DJ Wallace rounded out the scoring attack with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Defensively, Vidalia utilized relentless ball pressure to disrupt the Storm's rhythm, racking up 20 deflections and swiping 13 steals. That defensive havoc allowed the Indians to control the tempo and convert turnovers into transition points throughout the contest.
With nonregion play off to a flying start, the Indians now shift their focus to a crucial test. Vidalia travels to Swainsboro this Friday to open Region play in an important early- season matchup. Tip off for the first game will be at 6:00 p. m.
