Indians Sweep Washington Co.

The Vidalia High School Lady Indians Softball team swept Washington County in a best-of-three series on Wednesday of last week at Vidalia High School in the 1st Round of the GHSA State Playoffs behind strong pitching, timely hitting, and good defense.
Game 1
In game 1, Tori Polke threw a nohitter and struck out 10 batters as the sophomore pitcher led the Indians to a 10-0 victory.
Vidalia got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Deidra Boston singled and Sadie Berry doubled, each scoring a run.
The Indians added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when a couple of errors scored two runs, and Berry singled, scoring one run.
Berry drove the middle of the lineup, leading Vidalia with two hits and two runs batted in. Elizabeth Sowell, Deidra Boston, Aubrey Jones, and Anastyn Blewett also added hits to help the offense. continued from page
Game 2
In Game 2 the Indians got on the board in the top of the first inning after Deidra Boston doubled down the left field line, and Ledford hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
In the second inning, CK Hamilton singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Paisley Ledford singled, scoring one run, Sadie Berry singled, scoring two runs, Aubrey Jones singled, scoring one run, and Anastyn Blewett singled, scoring one run.
Vidalia added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Boston singled to center field, and Berry popped into a double play, each scoring one run.
Anastyn Blewett earned the win for Vidalia Indians. The hurler surrendered just one hit and one run over five innings, striking out seven and walking one. Vidalia tallied 13 hits in the game. Jones, Ivy Berry, and Boston each collected two hits for the Indians. Ledford, Berry, and Boston each drove in two runs.
The Indians will host Toombs County in the second round of the playoffs. They will play a doubleheader on Wednesday with games starting at 5:00 p.m. If necessary they will play a third game on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
