Ricks and Bulldogs Run Over Montgomery County

The Wheeler County High School Bulldogs offense proved unstoppable as they dominated the visiting Montgomery County High School Eagles last Friday night in Alamo, securing a decisive 62-14 victory to remain undefeated.

The Bulldogs, now 7-0, established control early, with the offense rolling and the defense creating scores. Star running back Alvin Ricks was the offensive spark, rushing for 169 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 9 carries, including an impressive 67-yard run. Wide receiver Jahkoryan Dinkins also contributed with 102 total yards and 2 touchdowns.

The game was essentially decided by halftime. Wheeler County's scoring spree at the end of the second quarter included a passing touchdown and a crucial fumble recovery returned for a touchdown, capitalizing on every opportunity. Both scores were followed by successful extra points, pushing the lead to 48-7 at halftime.

With the big lead and a running clock in effect, scoring slowed dramatically in the second half. Wheeler County managed to add an additional 14 points, while Montgomery County added 7 points, resulting in the final 62-14 score. Wheeler is 7-0 on the season and they are 3-0 in Region play. They have moved up the rankings and are #8 in the state in Class A Division 2. This week Wheeler will have the week off and will return next week against Telfair County. Montgomery will be in another rivalry game as they take on the Vikings of Treutlen on Thursday night in Soperton with kickoff at 5:30 p.m.
