Vidalia Dominates Homecoming With 35-0 Shutout Over Brantley County

On a night filled with school spirit, celebration, and a sea of maroon and gold, the Vidalia High School Indians delivered a Homecoming performance to remember, shutting out the Brantley County Herons 35-0 at Buck Cravey Field on Friday night.
During halftime of the game the Indians also crowned the 2025 Homecoming Queen. Rori Johnson was named as Queen.
From the opening whistle, the Indians set the tone for a dominant evening, scoring on their first possession after recovering a kickoff and quickly marching downfield. Tyler McKinney opened the scoring with a 3-yard touchdown run just a minute into the game, giving the Indians a 7-0 lead they never looked back from.
The first quarter saw both teams exchange possessions, but it was Vidalia’s swarming defense that repeatedly halted Brantley County’s offensive efforts, including forcing a turnover on downs early and holding the Herons deep in their own territory.
The turning point came in the second quarter, when Brycen Burns intercepted a Brantley County pass and returned it to the Herons' 42yard line. That set up a short drive capped by a 3-yard touchdown from DJ Wallace, stretching the lead to 13-0.
Vidalia continued to pour it on. After another Brantley County punt, Andre Jackson took a handoff and broke loose for a 49-yard touchdown run to make it 19-0. The Indians found the end zone once more before halftime, with Wallace scoring again—this time from 2 yards out—followed by his own two-point conversion run, putting the Indians up 27-0 going into the break.
Coming out of halftime, Vidalia’s defense remained unrelenting. Brantley County managed to drive near midfield but was again forced to punt. The Indians fumbled on the ensuing possession, but linebacker Josh Farmer quickly recovered a Brantley continued from page
fumble on the very next play, regaining control for Vidalia.
Moments later, Jamarré Wiggs broke off a long run to set up a 1-yard touchdown plunge by Ryan Brantley, who also added a two-point conversion, pushing the score to 35-0 late in the third quarter.
Vidalia’s secondstringers closed out the fourth quarter, with the defense holding strong and preserving the shutout. Tyler McKinney added a lategame spark with a long run into Heron territory, as the Indians continued to dominate both sides of the ball until the final whistle.
With the win, Vidalia improves their record to 1-3 on the season. More importantly, they gave their Homecoming crowd exactly what they came for—a statement win under the Friday night lights.
