Brewton-Parker Christian University is thrilled to announce the appointment of Cody Johansen as the new Director of Esports. This move, taking effect on July 1, marks a significant development in the collegiate Esports landscape.
Johansen was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, before heading to Ottawa University in Kansas to play baseball. He joined their Esports team in 2022 to play Halo. During his tenure there, he played Halo and ascended to become one of the top 32 Halo players nationally in his debut year.
He was named the team captain in his senior year and consistently led his team to the playoffs. Transitioning to a leadership role, Johansen also served as a graduate assistant (GA) from 2023 to 2025, during which he shifted his focus to playing Call of Duty, leading his team to the playoffs in successive seasons.
His experience is further illustrated by his academic achievements, which include both a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Master's degree in Athletic Administration.
Brewton-Parker's decision to bring Johansen on board reflects its commitment to enhancing the Esports program, seeking to leverage his expertise in player development and team management for its benefit. When asked about his goals for the upcoming season, Johansen remarked, 'I want us to continue the success that Brewton-Parker has found and keep being able to provide a home for players that want to compete at the next level.' The Barons are looking forward to seeing the growth of the Esports program under Johansen's leadership.
