Grace Over RTCA In Elite 8

The Robert Toombs Christian Academy Crusaders baseball team was on the road on Saturday to face Grace Christian Academy in the GIAA State Elite 8 in a best-of-three series. It was a tough day for RTCA as they lost two games on Saturday to see their season come to an end.

Game 1

In the first game of the series, RTCA got a great pitching performance from Brittan Tabor as he struck out 13 batters, and allowed just two hits and two walks. But Grace found a way and came away with the win.

RTCA plated the first run of the game in the top of the second inning when Banks Hopkins came in to score on an error by the Cougars of Grace Christian.

But in the bottom of the fourth inning, Grace came back with two runs off a big RBI double to take a 2-1 lead over RTCA.

Grace also had a solid pitching performance as they struck out 11 RTCA batters in the game. RTCA wasn't able to get much going over the next three innings, as they fell to the Cougars in the first game of the series, 2-1.

Game 2

In the second game, Grace jumped out with three runs in the top of the first inning to take the early lead. RTCA's only run of the game came in the bottom of the first inning when Brody Randall scored on an error by Grace. That closed the lead to 3-1.

But the Cougars added another run in the top of the third inning and then a run in the fifth and another in the sixth as they built up a 6-1 lead over RTCA.

RTCA had just two hits in the game, from Anderson Moore and Bray Williamson. RTCA also had six walks in the game, but they could not come up with the big hits when they needed them.

The loss ended the season for the Crusaders with a record of 10-11.
