Treutlen Wins 2 Over MCHS

The Montgomery County High School Eagles and the Treutlen County High School Vikings baseball teams met up last week for a Region series. They were able to get only two of the three games in due to weather, but played a double header on Friday in Soperton. They will make up the third game on Wednesday of this week at 5:00 p.m. in Mt. Vernon.

Game 1

In the first game of the double header the Vikings rolled to a win. MCHS scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning, but that was the only one they could manage in the game. Bo Davidson drove that run in for MCHS.

Treutlen tied the game in the bottom of the first with one run, and then took the lead in the third with another. In the bottom of the fourth inning Treutlen pulled away with three more runs to lead 5-1. The Vikings plated two more in the sixth inning on the way to a 7-1 win over the Eagles.

Trace Peeples led Treutlen with four hits and four RBI's in the game. Harrison Rutherford had a solid shoeing on the mound as he went the full seven innings and struck out 14 batters.

Game 2

The second game had a similar outcome with the Vikings taking the win. Treutlen scored twice in the first inning and one in the second to take an early 3-0 lead.

The Vikings added three more runs in the fifth and then another in the sixth as they took the win, 7-0.

This week Treutlen and Montgomery will make up Game 3 on Wednesday. Treutlen will also take on Dooly County in a Region series. The first game was on Monday after presstime, and they will play a double header on Friday in Soperton with the first game at 4:00 p.m. Treutlen is now 11-10 on the year, and they are 9-8 in the Region.

The Eagles are 2-12 on the year and are 0-12 in the Region. This week along with the makeup against Treutlen, MCHS will matchup up with Dublin for a Region series. The first game was on Tuesday in Dublin after presstime. They will play a double header on Friday in Mt. Vernon with the first game at 4:00 p.m.
