Crusaders Take 3 Wins

The Crusaders baseball team of Robert Toombs Christian Academy played two games last week and then one on Monday of this week. RTCA added three wins to their record as they defeated Edmund Burke, First Preparatory Christian Academy, and Twiggs Academy.

RTCA Head Coach Brian Fitzgerald also earned his 300th career victory with the win over FPCA.

Vs. EBA

On Monday of last week RTCA hosted EBA. The Spartans of Edmund Burke took the early lead with a run in the top of the second inning, but RTCA answered with one in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at 1-1.

EBA went back on top with a run in the top of the third, but a big bottom half of the inning for RTCA put them back on top. RTCA plated six runs as they took a 7-2 lead.

RTCA did not score any more in the game, but they allowed the Spartans only two runs in the top of the seventh inning as they held on to win, 7-4.

TJ Stanley had 2 hits for RTCA with an RBI to lead the way. Karson Evans got the win on the mound with 7 strikeouts. continued from page

Vs. FPCA

In Hinesville on Thursday RTCA got an easy win over the Highlanders. The Crusaders scored two in the third inning to put the first runs on the board. RTCA added three more in the fifth inning to push their lead to 5-0. Robert Toombs capped it off with a run in the seventh to win the game 6-0 over FPCA.

Cam Williams led RTCA with 2 RBI’s, with Stanley and Tripp Durden each adding one. Williams also went the distance on the mound for the win with a solid 15 strikeouts.

Vs. Twiggs

Twiggs was outmatched by RTCA on Monday of this week in Lyons. Durden got the win for RTCA as he threw four scoreless innings. Gage Brantley, Cayden Nance, and Andrew Tuck each drove in 2 RBI’s in the game, and Stanley had 3 hits for RTCA. The Crusaders put two runs on the board in the second inning and then added five more in the third to lead 7-0. RTCA scored two more in the fourth and then one in the fifth to win the game by the run rule, 10– 0. RTCA is now 6-1 on the season and they are 2-0 in the Region. They were at Bulloch Academy on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Friday at Fullington Academy in Pinehurst at 4:00 p.m.
