Two Wins For RTCA Crusaders

The Robert Toombs Christian Academy Crusaders baseball team took on Bulloch Academy last week and then faced off with Edmund Burke on Monday of this week.

Vs. Bulloch

Senior Cam Williams was dominant on the mound going all seven innings striking out 12 while only walking 2. Holding Bulloch scoreless through six before giving up three runs late.

The Crusaders scored two runs in the first inning with back-to-back hits by Karson Evans, Tripp Durden and Dawson Pinkard followed by an RBI by Williams. RTCA added a run in the second inning and then Williams hit a home run in the third to give RTCA a 4-0 lead.

The Crusaders scored twice more in the sixth inning before giving up three runs in the top of the seventh. But RTCA took the win, 6-3 over Bulloch.

Head Coach Brian Fitzgerald said, “Cam was much better today with his command and was able to find his breaking ball keeping Bulloch pretty much at bay on the day, and we had a great start offensively in the 1st inning. Again, we left to many runners in scoring position tonight and need to work on situational hitting. We’re real good at the top but struggling at the bottom, need some more consistency throughout.”

Vs. Edmund Burke The Crusaders hosted Edmund Burke on Monday of this week and picked up another win. EB got on the board first with a run in the top of the second inning, but RTCA answered in the bottom half with a run to tie the game at 1-1.

EB scored another run in the top of the third inning, but RTCA broke the game open in the bottom half of the frame with six runs to jump out to a 7-2 lead. EB did score two more runs in the top of the seventh inning, but RTCA held on to take the win, 7-4.

RTCA will be at First Preparatory Christian Academy on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. in Hinesville.
