shot wounds were being treated at the emergency department at Meadows. The additional gunshot victims were identified as Jourden Dasher, a 19-yearold female of Vidalia, and Joshua Bowens, also 19, of Vidalia. All three victims are listed in stable condition at the local hospital.
During their investigation of the shootings, police discovered that all three victims were in the area of East Jenkins Street and Epstein Street when gunshots erupted.
According to Sgt. Investigator John Humphrey, Phillips and Bowens were walking the area of Jenkins and Epstein when they were approached and shot by a suspect or suspects who were also on foot. Dasher was sitting in a vehicle in the same area when she was shot. Phillips was able to reach a nearby residence and called 911. Police arrived on the scene and administered first aid until the ambulance arrived. Bowens and Dasher were transported to the hospital by private vehicle.
At approximately 12:38 a.m. Wednesday, Vidalia police responded to 1505 Mount Vernon Road (U.S. Highway 280) regarding a report that a residence had been damaged by gunfire.
Lenworth Welsh and Jeffery Corbett were asleep inside the residence when they heard multiple gunshots. Officers found evidence that more than 20 rifle rounds had been fired into the residence, with corresponding casings discovered outside the house. Neither Welsh nor Corbett were injured in the shooting.
Sgt. Humphrey said that investigators do not believe the two shooting incidents are connected, and police have not yet determined whether the incidents are related to gang activity.
