VHS Gets Win Over Bacon

The Vidalia High School softball team got one game in last week around the weather as they picked up a big Region win over Bacon County in Alma.

VHS got the first run of the game in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Madison Starr that drove in Alli Taufmann. Bailey Holland was hit by a pitch and had to come out of the game with Tymber Harris taking her spot. Harris then scored on a hit by Bralie Carey and an errant throw. That put VHS on top 3-0.

Bacon got a runner to third base in the first, but Starr, who was pitching, got out of the jam. Bacon did manage to get two runs across in the bottom of the third inning on a couple of VHS errors, closing the lead to 3-2. Bacon tied the game in continued from page

Neither team scored over the next two innings, but in the top of the seventh inning Rileigh Robinson got on base and moved around to third. She came in to score on a double by Taufmann to the fence, giving VHS the lead, 4-3.

VHS held in the bottom of the seventh to take the 4-3 win over Bacon County.

This week VHS hosted Swainsboro on Tuesday after presstime. They will play next on Thursday at home against cross county rival Toombs County with the first pitch at 5:45 p.m.
