Indians Drop

Region Opener

The Indians softball team of Vidalia High School opened up their Region schedule last week with a game at Jeff Davis. The Indians had a bit of a hiccup as they committed too many errors, and the Yellow Jackets took the win and gave VHS their first loss of the season.

In the bottom of the first inning, the first error of the game for the Indians led to a run for JD as they took the early 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second inning, Jeff Davis had two runners on base, and another error let a run come in to score. Another error scored two more runs for the Yellow Jackets as they pushed their continued from page

lead to 4-0. In the top of the third inning the Indians got on the board when Rileigh Robinson scored on a double by Alli Taufmann. That closed the lead to 4-1.

The game then became a pitching dual. Neither team scored a run over the rest of the game. VHS did have a runner on base in the top of the seventh inning, but could not come up with the big hits when they needed them as they dropped their first game of the year.

VHS is now 5-1 on the year, and are 0-1 in Region 2AA. This week the Indians took on East Laurens on Tuesday after presstime and will be at Bacon County on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Both of those are Region games. Then this Friday and Saturday VHS will be at Victor Lord Park in Winder, GA. They will take on Lambert and Ola on Friday, and then play Dacula and Lanier on Saturday.
